Cloud Cover, Dragonflies

Storm’s coming.

I’m less than thrilled. We were supposed to be at the beach this week, and it doesn’t look like we’re going to make it.

…but at least I’m prepared for the dropping temperatures.

The pattern is ‘Dragonflies’ by Joji Locatelli [Ravelry link]. I loved the lace and cable pattern, but didn’t want to invest in new yarn. I had quite a bit of Cascade 220 leftover from last winter in various shades, found three that coordinated (Spring Meadow, Sparrow, and Smoke Heather), and went with it! The result is an almost-ombre-but-maybe-just-colorblocked tunic-length sweater that will definitely get a lot of wear this winter.

I often find myself knitting things just a bit too short, usually trying to save on yarn or maybe just bored with those last few inches. But really, there is nothing more cozy than having your sleeves hit mid-palm or having a sweater long enough to wear with leggings. I’m hoping to break myself of the short-cut habit this winter.

One good thing about being holed up in a storm? Plenty of time to snuggle up with the one you love, and still have time to knit. ;)
