Flying Geese Socks: Chevron Variation
Although I think “chevron fever” has died down a bit since last year, I’m still a fan myself. After writing up the pattern for Flying Geese Socks, I knew a chevron variation was something that I just had to try.
Like quilting, modular knitting gives you a lot of room for color play. Same pattern, same instructions, but different colors in a different order? Totally different sock.
To recreate, I worked the pattern in a basic White yarn and used leftover bits in Bright colors as follows:
- Knit the cuff in White
- Work 2 Main Color triangles in White
- Work 2 Contrast Color triangles in Brights
- Work 2 Main Color triangles in Brights
- Work 2 Contrast Color triangles in White
- Work 2 Main Color triangles in White
- Work 2 Contrast Color triangles in Brights
- Turn the heel in White (although you could do Brights here too! I think either would look good.)
- Work the Gusset in Brights
- Work 1 Contrast Color triangle in White
- Work 1 Main Color quadrilateral in White
- Work 1 Contrast Color triangle in Brights
- Work 1 Main Color quadrilateral in Brights
- Repeat the above 4 lines until length indicated in pattern
- Work toe in Brights (again, either color will work, so this may depend on which color you end with)
I can’t wait to see the color brilliant variations and color combinations other folks dream up! Happy knitting :)
These socks are amazing!!
Thanks Jenn! ;)
